FAQs
Long Daycare Kindergarten VS Sessional Kindergarten
What Is Daycare Kindergarten?
Daycare kinder is a type of early childhood education and care (ECEC) service that provides full-day care for children aged 3 to 5 years old. Daycare kinder services typically operate from 7:00am to 6:00pm,Monday to Friday, all year round, except for public holidays. They also provide all meals throughout the day.
What is the difference between daycare kinder and sessional kinder?
Sessional kinder programs typically operate for 15 hours per week during school terms only. Daycare kinder programs,on the other hand, operate for 52 weeks per year and offer full-day care. Thus children in daycare kindergarten, for an equivalent 3-days per week attendance, receive more than 1,000 hours additional learning per year. Additionally, all meals are provided for in a daycare program.
What are the benefits of daycare kinder?
Daycare kinder can offer a number of benefits for children and families, including:
- High-quality early childhood education: Daycare kinder programs are staffed by qualified early childhood teachers and educators who provide a high-quality educational program that is aligned with the Australian Early Years Learning Framework.
- Social and emotional development: Daycare kinder can help children to develop their social and emotional skills by providing them with opportunities to interact with other children and learn how to share, cooperate, and resolve conflicts.
- School readiness: Daycare kinder can help children to develop the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in school, such as literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Convenience: Daycare kinder can be a convenient option for working parents who need full-day care for their children.
Fees
What are the fees?
The cost of our program is $172 per day, which includes all meals, excursions, incursions and activites. We also offer a discounted fee for full-time enrollments (Mon - Fri x 10 hours days), which is $156 per day.
Children enrolled in our funded kindergarten program receive the free kinder subsidy of $2,050. This is applied directly to the parent gap fee throughout the year.
How do I claim the free kinder subsidy?
The free kinder subsidy is granted to families enrolled in our kindergarten program. Free kinder is available to all children eligible for 3- and 4-year old kinder, regardless of citizenship. It can only be claimed at one centre at a time. The claim is completed through the centre and funds are directly credited to your gap fee on a pro rata basis (e.g., $50 per term week).
Kindergarten Enrollments
Can I choose when my child starts Kindergarten?
Families with children born between January and April can choose which year to start Three-Year-Old Kindergarten. These children can start in the same year they turn three, or in the year they turn four years of age.
All other chidren start kinder the year their child turns 3 and 4 respectively.
Is it possible to repeat kindergarten?
our child may be eligible for a second year of kindergarten if:
- your child's teacher has found they have developmental delays in at least 2 key areas of learning and development
- your child will have better outcomes through a second year of kindergarten than going to school.
If your child turs 6 in the year they attend 4 year old kindergarten, they will require an exemption from school. Your kindergarten teacher will help you with this process.

How do I estimate my CCS Entitlement?
Please follow the below link to a CCS calcultar provided by Starting Blocks
Who receives the CCS funds and is it impacted by the free kinder subsidy?
CCS funds are paid directly to the centre to reduce your gap fee. The free kinder subsidy is not applied to your CCS and does not reduce your CCS entitlement. The free kinder subsidy is applied to your gap fee after CCS is applied to the daily fee. This ensures you receive the maximum benefits from both funding streams.
